 Portfolios were a large part of my undergraduate career. I have long appreciated the opportunity to revise my work and receive extensive feedback from my instructor without the pressure of worry about grades on each individual draft. As an instructor now, I strive to provide my students those same opportunities that allowed me to be successful in the academic arena. As an undergraduate student I composed paper portfolios, however, as technology continues to advance and the visual begins to dominate communication, I have intergraded electronic website portfolios into my composition courses. These electronic texts afford students multiple opportunities: they learn how to compose both written and visual texts as visual design is a crucial component to web texts, they write for an expanded audience and are able to self publish, they reflect on their own work and progress as writers, and they learn new technologies. This website serves as a both a professional portfolio and a communication tool between myself and my students. I run my classes electronically, meaning I do not provide printed out assignment sheets, all materials are electronic, and students turn in their assignments electronically. The website contains syllabi, schedules, and assignment sheets for all my courses, as well as links to relevant items such as the course blog.
